The 'Wee Folks' Valentine's Day.

'Hi, it's me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star.  You might be wondering why I'm wearing headphones.  Fair enough, there not exactly fitting over my ears.  However, and luckily, the music is loud enough to block out the inane gibberish that Gary aka klahanie, insists in boring me with.  'Who let the dogs out, woof, woof...woof, woof..!'
Well, it's that time of year again.  Valentine's Day and I know what that means.  Truckloads of post from my admirers will soon be coming through the front door.  I remember last year.  There were so many Valentine's cards that I couldn't get to the front door.  Actually, last year, there were so many Valentine's cards from my adoring fans, that the cards overflowed up through the hallway, into the living room and onto Gary's keyboard.  That was good, because that meant, for a few glorious minutes, Gary couldn't type!
Anyway, my friend, I was out in the garden, yes that garden, the one that Gary calls his 'Oasis in his desert of despair', or something like that.  Oh, please give me a break!  Yuck!   Right, where was I?  Oh yeah, so I was out for a stroll in the garden, early on the morn of St. Valentine's Day.  I heard a rustling sound amongst the withered leaves.   I looked down and there they were, two magical little creatures, known as the 'wee folks'.'

'I like to take my camera along with me on my garden travels. I was delighted that those two, very much in love, wee folks, Fidelina , the beautiful fairy princess and Geoffrey the garden gnome, allowed me to take the above photo.
Can you see the look of love in their eyes?  Can you sense their awe, their appreciation of the snowdrop that has burst forth, amongst the dying leaves of an autumn long forgot?   Yes my friend, the wee folks live in that enchanting world where no judgement is passed.  Where all are different, yet all are equal.   The wee folks believe in a natural balance, to be in harmony with nature.  You are a person of the big world and their message and my message is simple, yet profound.  The wee folks and those of us in the animal world, demonstrate unconditional, unwavering love.  If only mankind would listen.  If only.
Happy Valentine's Day my friend and remember that true love goes beyond the exchanging of  cards.'

  1. Thank you Penny, for pawing such a wonderful post on Valentine's Day. You look most fetching in your headphones, even though they are only upon your ears due to the inane gibberish Gary is making :)

I think the 'wee folk' can teach us humans a great deal. As you so rightly said Penny, 'We are all different, yet all equal'.

PS. I hope Gary pays you well? :)

  2. Hello Penny; Funny how your smile even looks British. How do you manage that? I loved your post and Happy Valentine's day to you and Gary as well. Could you let Gary know that there is a movie out in his honour? It's called Gnomeo and Juliet. I appreciate the sentiment in regard to non-judgementalism. One of the reasons I so adore my lovely pets is that they never judge me, criticize me, or hurt my feelings. They love me to bits and me back! Humans could benefit from their wisdom. Take care!
    Peace

  3. Happy Valentine's Day Gary! Penny is just the cutest thing ever. Loved the picture. The wee folks are looking their usual extremely-in-love selves. Oh and yes, before I lose track of my thoughts, I've sent you a truckload of cards and tons of chocolates and flowers from your admiring fans here in Malaysia. I hope you'll have the time to crack the gifts open one by one. It might take you forever, but at least you can mind-wander while doing that. Tell me how it goes. Take Care Gare! You rock!

    Hugs,
    Shanaz

  4. Hi Wendy,
Thank you for liking my Valentine's Day posting. I started to rather like sort of wearing the headphones :-) And if it blocks out the sound of Gary talking his usual rubbish, then I'm one happy dog.
The 'wee folks' and yes, me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star, have valuable lessons to teach the human race. Maybe, before it's too late, humans will listen.
    Thanks Wendy.
Pawsitive wishes to you and your three adorable dogs.
Hugs and doggy kisses, Penny xx

  5. Hi Heather,
Not only that, but I bark with an English accent! 'Arf, arf!' :-)
Thank you for loving my post and for your very kind Valentine's wishes.
Ah Gary is very aware of that movie and a lawsuit may well be in the works :-) Fidelina and Geoffrey have been informed about that movie.
Yes, Gary has told me how much your four legged family members mean to you. And you to them. If only more humans could embrace your ethos. Thanks Heather.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

  6. Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, Penny. I must say you have my sympathies. Even with the headphones on, you seem to have a somewhat glazed look in your eyes.

As it's Valentine's Day, maybe you could buy Gary a very big box of chocolates...you know, the ones with very sticky toffee in the middle. Maybe that'll keep his jaws busy for a while so you can get some peace.

  7. Hi Shanaz,
Tis I, Penny, the dog pawing away on the keyboard :-)
I've just called over to Gary and he thanks you for the Valentine's Day wishes and sends back Happy Valentine's Day wishes to you :-)
Shanaz, I'm really flattered you think I'm cute. I like to think that the photos go very well with my posting. And the wee folks are such a beautiful display of true love.
Wow, you've sent over all those lovely gifts from Malaysia! Gary will be most grateful and very surprised. I think there will be an awful lot of postal trucks outside our home!
I'm going to tell Gary that he should let his mind wander when he opens all those gifts. In fact, I've a good mind to remind him to wander over to your awesome site
    :-)
You take care, Shanaz. Gary tells me you rock!
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way and a hug from Gary xx

  8. Hi Ian,
And Happy Valentine's Day to you and your loved ones:-)
I have that glazed look from listening to some band named 'Three Dog Night'. Most confusing they were singing about a bullfrog named 'Jeremiah' :-)
What a fine idea. Which reminds me, if you'll excuse me a moment. (Sorry Wendy, forgot to answer your question. Gary has not paid me anything. You would think he should pay me a bit of money. After all, I've been teaching him how to write.)
Apologies Ian, but without any money from him, alas, I cannot buy him any sticky toffee. Maybe I should stick a dog biscuit in his mouth. Perhaps that would shut him up!
Thanks Ian and pawsitive wishes, your way, Penny :-) 'Arf, arf!'

  9. Yes Penny, pop a dog biscuit in Gary's mouth. That should shut him up!!

    You're just too funny :)

  10. Hi Wendy,
It might just work. If not, I could try shoving my chewed up doggy toy into his great big gob. 'Arf arf!' And yes, it's about time he starting paying me some money:-)

  11. Greetings Penny, this is my first posting to comment upon your writing. And yes sometimes you just have to shut out 'those' loved ones who just get under your skin at the wrong time, especially when you are having a creative moment. However, I do sense that you created a 'paparazzi' moment when suddenly surprising two people who do seem to have been caught in a, how can I say it...'intimate moment'. Look how, the fairy princess is dealing with her dress, and the stunned look on Geoffrey's face...my heart when out to them...really, how embarrassing! It's a very nice sentimental piece, and I wish you and Gary a miserable Valentine's! Valentine's Day....Bah Humbug! ;-)

  12. For a moment I thought they were mouth phones and not headphones, Penny! Hmmm...I wonder who put them on for you... :)

I remember the Wee folks - they did something wonderful and memorable over Christmas, didn't they.

Tell Gary my Rottie and Mongrel love me unconditionally too, and I agree - if only the world listens

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  13. Awwwwww beautiful Penny!!!! Your wee folks are just loving frolicking amongst the gorgeous crocuses!!! How lovely!!

Happy Valentine's Day to you and your very astute klahanie!!!! I too am wading through a myriad of scarlet envelopes ignoring the fact that they are all addressed to Charlie!! :-)

Have a beautiful day! Take care

  14. Hi Penny!
    Such a lovely post.
A very happy valentines to both you and Gary :).

You're so right, love isn't just about the exchange of cards. It's so much more, and sometimes we forget that. So thank you for the reminder

    :)

  15. Aww Penny, that was an enchanting piece, Zak loved it and asked me to pass on the following message "Woof, woof, woof" and added "Woof, woof". I hope the pile of cards reached the bathroom this year, you deserve them, although I hope they didn't pen Gary in his bedroom! Your positivity is an inspiration to us all, what a simple happy little life you have.

  16. Hi Penny,
Could you pleeease make a photography youtube tutorial for my dogs? They would like to learn how to take beautiful photos like yours with my camera. They said they would send you some nice sticky maple candy, and a new soundtrack in exchange for lessons. So, what do you say? Woof Woof! Bow Wow! Shake paws! Happy Valentine's Day!

  17. Hi Gary.
    ~ ~
I had to paws for reflection but I think I'm over it now. What an incredible talent and yet... the wrong size earphones? What's the deal? Well, I count the results of Penny being a modest internet star, your fault! She's been forced to listen to the tap, tap, tapping at your door, er, um, keyboard, Gary!

You never cease to surprise me. Happy Valentine's Day... to you, your alternate ego, and Miss Penny!

  18. Careful with those headphones, Penny - they might damage your hearing or melt your brain.

I have always felt it much safer to peer longingly into the horn of a Victrola.

  19. Hi Penny, thankyou for your lovely St.Valentine`s Day posting.
Unfortunately, I think it is too late for a lot of things on this planet due to us humans thinking we are above everything and have the `right` to use and abuse the planet and all that is on it as we like! Sorry to be so negative, but it embarrasses me sometimes to be human!
Continue to take good care of Gary.

  21. Hi The Manic Chef,
Sometimes Gary can be most distracting when I'm trying to write one of my pawfect postings:-)
In my case, friend, a 'puppyarazzi' moment! Fidelina and Geoffrey are my friends. They were cool with me photographing them during that moment. You should have seen what they were up to just before that. Maybe not.
Thank you for your Valentine's Day wishes.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx 'Arf, arf!' :-)

  22. Hi Grandpa,
They are indeed wireless headphones and they were placed on me by 'Tails' the fox! :-)
Actually, the 'wee folks' tales have been going on for well over a year now. There are several wee folks stories.
I shall tell Gary that your Rottie and Mongrel love you unconditionally. Of course, I already knew they would :-)
Hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day.

Yes, they were having a wonderful time in the garden. I saw their delight as the little flowers had begun to shoot out of the ground:-)
I do hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day. Seems Charlie, just like I did, had a great day pawing open all those envelopes from our admirers :-)

  25. Hi Smallandsnappy,
Thanks for that and I'm really glad Zak loved it. My message back to him is 'Arf, arf...arf, arf!' :-)
The cards overflowed the entire house this year. I shifted Gary's cards near to his bedroom door. He got out of bed and tripped on his cards which were actually bills:-)
Philip, I do stay pawsitive as best I can and I'm grateful to be living in such a loving home.
Hope you, Julie and Zak had a peaceful Valentine's Day.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, Penny xx

  26. Hi THE SNEE,
I shall see what I can do. Just a quick thought for your dogs when they finally start taking photos. When taking pictures of magical 'wee folks' make sure your camera is set at it's highest 'pixielated' setting. 'Arf, arf!' :-)
So I will work on that Youtube video for them. And I could use the sticky maple candy to shove in Gary's miserable mouth! :-) Wonder what sort of music you would send? 'How much is that doggy in the window?...' Oh, no thanks...
Anyway, hope you and your loved ones has a lovely Valentine's Day.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, Penny xx

  27. Hi Dixie,
    Yes, it's me Penny :-)
I know, those darned headphones are way too big. You would think that Gary could have at least found a pair in my size.
In actuality, I have shown Gary that I can tap away on the keyboard better than him. You would think he would learn something from my writing and try harder. Whoops, must go now, sounds like there is some late mail coming through the door :-)
Hope you had a really nice Valentine's Day, Dixie.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx

Gary tells me you are a man of peace and respects the natural world. Gary has told me there are other good humans like you who still have time to make a difference, to reinstate our world into a greener, cleaner, more peaceful planet.
You as a human, can do the best you can do. I see no embarrassment in that.
Pawsitive and peaceful wishes, Penny :-)

I've had several canine contenders who tried to sweep me off my paws and...I never really got to see their face :-) Thus, alas, I am still waiting for the right hound to make me bound with a barking sound from love all round.
I shall tell Gary he can place his paws back on the keyboard. Maybe this time he will of noted my pawfect prose and learn something
    :-)

  35. Hello Penny. Hello Gary. And, of course, hello Fidelina and Geoffrey. I hope you're all having a nice Valentine's Day. Sounds like Gary gets a lot of V-Day cards. With that many cards blocking the hallways and the rest of the place- well, that could create a real fire hazard. Please pass my concerns to Gary, Penny.

Yes, I can see the look of love in the wee folks' eyes. They look as if they've fallen under a spell. And I think mankind should listen to their message of harmony, equality and love. It's a message that a part of mankind hasn't understood, not to mention have tried. Maybe someday they will. As long as there are some who do understand, there is still hope.

Take care, this day and beyond, all of you.

Between you and me, hope you can keep this a secret, Gary doesn't get any Valentine's Day cards. Now then, all the cards I received have been placed in a safe location. We kept them all and Gary has rented a warehouse to store my cards! :-)
Thank you for your thoughtful message. Gary has told me that if enough kind and decent humans like you, spread the message, then the world may still become a place of peace and natural harmony with nature.
Hope you, your loved ones, the cast and crew of 'Psycho Carnival', had a wonderful Valentine's Day.
